16-year-old Jessica Watson is one of several teenagers wanting to navigate solo around the globeLondon, England (CNN) -- On October 26, a court in the Netherlands will decide whether 13-year-old Laura Dekker is allowed to fulfill her dream of sailing around the world -- solo.

In August, Dutch authorities placed the girl under state care for two months, following her parents' refusal to prevent her from undertaking the potentially dangerous voyage.

Somali pirates fire at U.S. helicopter, Navy says

The Maersk Alabama was targeted in an April hijacking that ended with Navy snipers killing three pirates.WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Pirates holding a Taiwanese-flagged ship off the coast of Somalia fired on a U.S. Navy helicopter Wednesday as the aircraft monitored the ship, the Navy said.

Writer: I was threatened after questioning Russian ship hijack

Russian forces retook the Arctic Star without any opposition after reports that it had been hijacked.

(CNN) -- A Russian writer who contradicted some authorities by suggesting that the hijacked cargo ship Arctic Sea was carrying something other than timber was fired after he fled Russia because of threats, he told CNN Friday.
